Express Entry manages applications for three economic immigration programs:
Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to meet labour market needs.
Federal Skilled Worker Program
This program includes all professions listed in the National Occupation Classification (NOC), the applicants are first assessed based on their age, education, work experience, a valid job offer, English and or French language ability, and adaptability. With a minimum of 67 points they are entered in the express entry pool, and are further assessed on the Comprehensive Ranking System to be invited to apply for Permanent Residency based on their score.
Federal Skilled Trades Program
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
Skilled trades for the Federal Skilled Trades Program are organized under these groups:
Industrial, electrical and construction trades
Maintenance and equipment operation trades
Supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production
Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators
Chefs and cooks
Butchers and bakers
Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents. This is the program through which the foreign students with Canadian work experience apply for Permanent Residency to Canada.
